Fat or Fatty” is the word commonly used to address people with slight weight variations. It is usually based on the fact that some people don’t fit in the criteria of the ideal body type or bodyweight people consider, to be called slim.
Sometimes the weight you think fulfills the societal criteria could actually be non-ideal. Why so?
Medically a person is not considered overweight unless his Body mass Index (BMI) does not fall into the average range suitable according to their weight and height and to lead a healthy life it is essential to maintain a normal BMI.
Any person who somehow surpasses the normal range is considered overweight whereas one who has a very high BMI is Obese; which could be alarming in terms of health.
BMI helps gauge any health-related issues that could arise from overweight and obesity.

Reasons for obesity:

There could be a few reasons for obesity or weight gain. Some common reasons are:

Influence of genetics on weight gain:

Genes can play a significant role in weight gain.it can be familial(runs in family). Some people get hungry more frequently and some might have a genetic variation in their metabolism — slow or fast — people with a slow metabolism tend to gain weight more easily and faster than others.

Bad eating Habits:

Bad eating habits can prove disastrous;

  1. Eating fast food
  2. Taking lots of carbs and fats
  3. Poor food consumption
  4. Eating at random times

Diseases associated with weight gain:

There could be various disastrous health-related consequences of obesity a few common are:

  • Coronary heart disease
  • Hyperlipidemia
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • High blood pressure
  • Hight rates of mortality
  • Difficulty in normal functioning

How to avoid gaining excessive weight?

There are a few easy ways to fight obesity. If you think that you gain weight easily then it would be best to avoid unhealthy eating habits; avoid eating fast food, fried food, and gluten as well.

Avoid unhealthy foods

Eat-in proportions

Take small portions more frequently

Exercise

Go for daily Running

Add green tea to your routine

Avoid late-night snacking

Consume more veggies
